In 2016, the Chinese market accounted for more than 50% of Vietnams textile and clothing exports.
Vietnam Economic Times reported on December 14th that Vietnam Textile Association estimated that Vietnam's textile and garment exports amounted to 28 billion 500 million US dollars in 2016. China is a major export market, accounting for 50% of total exports. However, after Turkey anti-dumping on Vietnamese yarn, yarn export enterprises are worried about the risk of overreliance on the Chinese market. The United States remains a key export market for textile and clothing in Vietnam, and exports to the United States in 2016 amounted to 11 billion 400 million US dollars, up 4% over the same period last year. The association said the global textile market was about $15790 billion in 2014 and $16850 billion in 2015. It was expected to be $19000 billion in 2020 and $26000 billion in 2025. The 8 main consumer markets are the European Union, the United States, China, Japan, India, Brazil, Russia and Canada.
